Surgical control of the temporomandibular joint has been one of the most vexing and debatable disciplines within oral and maxillofacial surgical procedure. In 1999, we felt that there were substantial proof‐primarily based initiatives in healing surgical interventions for superior temporomandibular joint problems enough sufficient to warrant a surgical atlas. We accept as true with that the amazing advances during the last 15 years in surgical control, and selection‐making, truely justify an up to date edition of this atlas.
Both editions presume that a complete, nonsurgical intervention has been explored prior to attention of any open surgical method. We desired to produce a concise “how‐to” surgical manual for each the beginner and skilled doctor.
Intra-articular and extra-articular open strategies, for the correction of sicknesses related to the temporomandibular joint, that have been proven to be safe and efficacious are reviewed in element.
