APEX

The word “apex” is derived from the Latin word for “peak” or “summit.” In dental terms, it refers to the highest point of the tooth, where the tooth surfaces meet. In general, however, apex can refer to the tip or endpoint of anything. For example, one might say “the apex of my pen is broken” or “the apex of my career was winning that Nobel Prize.”

Whatever the context, apex always denotes a point of distinction or maximum achievement. So whether you’re discussing your dental health or your professional aspirations, remember that apex is the ultimate goal.
