This 3rd version of the colour Atlas of Periodontology now emerges, greater than thirteen years after the second one. The reasons for the long delay are many, however the saddest changed into the passing of our colleague and buddy, and co-author Edith’s husband, Klaus Rateitschak, on September 30, 2002. We dedicate this third edition to him, an version on which he worked intensively, up to the very end, and in which he observed vast joy and pride in the nearly innumerable improvements that the Nineteen Nineties introduced to our profession, while launching it into the twenty first Century.
The flip of the century provided to us the possibility to freshly examine what had been performed, and to outline new desires for the future. Dentistry and especially periodontology received clean and fervent impetus to combine new and relevant clinical and scientific information into our day by day professional practices, consisting of even total paradigm shifts.
those facts in themselves presented sufficient basis for us to completely revise the second one edition, maintaining of direction those standards and treatment modalities that have stood the take a look at of time, but incorporating thrilling new findings which have immediate medical applicability.
